‘Malgudi Days Was an Emotionally Draining Experience’, says Anoop Menon
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:00 AM IST So far, Anoop Menon has portrayed sober and subdued characters on the big screen. It is for the first time that the Malayalam actor will be playing a character that will not thrive on dialogues but emotional expressions, in his upcoming film Malgudi Days. The actor admits that the intense emotional drama was quite a challenge for him.
Anoop Menon told TOI, “Except for Thirakkatha maybe, I have always been acting as the philosopher- advisor in most of my films, with no emotions at their core. It was cakewalk for me as I am like that in real. But Malgudi Days was an emotionally draining experience as everything about it is intense. I had to go through severe mental and physical challenges to portray Stephan Solomon, my character in it”.
Talking of the debut directorial of 3 brothers Vinod, Visakh, and Vivek, the actor said, “It is perhaps the first in the history of cinema that three brothers are directing a film. They are new people and initially I had no inkling to say yes to the project. But I loved the sincerity with which they approach their craft and agreed to be part of the movie. Also, I know how difficult it is for youngsters to get an entry in cinema”.
