There Was Never A Competition Between Us: Mohanlal About Mammukka

Mammukka and Mohanlal are the pillars of Mollywood cinema industry. The actors, who made their acting debut seven years apart, are a name that young stars long to work with. The actors, who started their career in the late seventies, have carved a unique alcove for themselves not just in Mollywood but in Indian cinema.  

In a recent interview, Mohanlal said that they both bring different value additions to a movie. He said that there is no competition between the two as they have detached themselves from the competition. When asked if there was a healthy competition between the two in the 80s and 90s, he denies it. He said, "Healthy competition? There was never a competition between us. We have acted in 54 movies together. Chances of us competing for a movie now are also few because we have plenty of films".

He further added that both the actors have created a different space in the industry and roles that come to Mammukka are not meant for Mohanlal and vice versa. Explaining that they both have a different style which helped them to never compete with each other, Mohanlal gave examples of Tamil superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan who are poles apart in their style but still rule the Kollywood industry.
