Bollywood is a world of glamour and stardom. Audiences and fans in India put their favourite celeb up on a pedestal. They are considered different from the rest of the people. Their stardom exist on a very different level altogether. In fact, people shower them with so much love that some even have temples of their name where they are worshipped!

This image is a difficult one to maintain. But fans recieve the shock of their life when these celebs decide to get hitched and spend their lives with common people like us. That not just reaffirms that they are simple human beings like any of us, but also makes us believe that anything can happen in the world! Neil Nitin Mukesh tied the knot with Rukmini Sahay on 9th February,2017. It was an arranged marriage. Rukmini was associated with the aviation industry and her family was frinds with Neil Nitin Mukesh's, which is how they met!

Mira Rajput had just finished her graduation in English literature from Lady Sriram College when she got an arranged marriage proposal. Turned out that it was from heart-throb Shahid Kapoor! Both Mira and Shahid's parents were followers of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, which made them family friends. They met on a few occassions and soon tied the knot! They are also the parents of baby girl Misha now.

While many have claimed that John met his wife Priya Runchal in the gym, where they both worked out, it was through common friends that the two first met. Priya was working in the World Bank, Mumbai and John had friends there. It was through them that the two met. Priya joined the same gym much later. John had a very hush hush affair with her and the two tied the knot in a very secret ceremony in 2013. When it comes to Priya, John chooses to reveal as less as possible!

The IT couple of Bollywood met for the first time in 1984, when SRK was just 18 years old. It was at a friend’s party and when Shah Rukh asked Gauri to dance with him, she turned him down saying she was waiting for her ‘boyfriend’, when in reality she was just waiting for her brother! When the two finally dated and were in a relationship, their religion came in the way. SRK even posed as a Hindu to impress Gauri’s parents and convince them. The two got married on October 25, 1991. 

Reena was Aamir’s neighbor and Aaamir fell in love with the lady after watching her from his window! Yes, as bizzare as it may get, he even sent her a letter written in blood when she turned him down! The two got married on March 14, 1986 and kept it a secret since Reena was a student and Aamir was still struggling back then. The two revealed their marriage much later.

Sohail’s movie, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya released in 1998 and a few moments after its release, he told that he had eloped and married a Punjabi girl, Seema Sachdev. He barely knew her. He said that he loved her. Their families obviously disapproved at the beginning, but later accepted them. The couple had an Arya Samaj wedding, later followed by a conservative nikaah!

Parveen and Emraan were childhood friends and had known each other long before Emraan entered Bollywood. She became a pre-school teacher while Emraan chose to be an actor. They had dated for six years too. Emraan totally surprised everyone when the serial kisser married Parveen on December 2006 in an Islamic wedding ceremony. They have been by each other through the darkest of times, especially when their son Ayaan was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 4. They are each other’s strength!

Madhavan taught people and gave people courses on public speaking before he was an actor. In fact he also won the Indian Championship for Public Speaking and subsequently represented India at the Young Businessmen Conference in Tokyo, Japan in 1992. But in 1991, at a communication and public speaking workshop in Maharashtra, he had a student called Sarita Birje. Birje attended the workshop on the recommendation of one of her cousins. This course helped her pass an interview for the job of an air hostess and that is how their love story began! They later married in 1999, even before Madhavan debuted in films!

Jimmy might not get his lady loves on-screen, but off-screen, he has a perfect love story. He met her at a friend’s wedding post Maachis! Priyanka initially set him up with one of her cousins, but as fate had it, the two fell in love, dated for five years and got married in 2001.

Sobha was 14 years old when one day someone threw peanuts at heer on Marine Drive. A really silly incident, isn’t it. But it was Jeetendra!
