2 States' Box-Office Fate...Will It Be Great?

Made by debutant director Abhishek Varman, 2 States is finally releasing. A huge sum of money is riding on this film starring two newcomers Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor. But will it work? We take a look at what the buzz is....

Promotional overdrive

Learning from her past mistake, Alia Bhatt has been on a promotional overdrive to make sure that her third film 2 States is super-hit. No matter what she will not talk about her personal life and she would like to keep people guessing. So what? It helps her promote her films and she does what she can. As for her acting skills, they have improved too and you will notice it in this film.

So what's the story

It is a story of two IIM graduates who fall in love with each other. However, their cultural differences stand in the way as they try to convert their love story into a love marriage. While Alia is seen as a Tam-Brahm girl, Arjun plays a suave punjabi boy.

Family film

Alia and Arjun insist that though there are a few kisses in the movie which are being blown out of proportion, 2 States is a family film which begins where most romantic comedies end because it is about bringing families together through love. The film has good comic punches too. Sounds good to us.

The buzz

Produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala, 2 States is based on a novel of Chetan Bhagat by the same name. The trailer and videos have been appreciated and the film has got positive reviews. As for the link-ups, there is no truth to any of it. It is just to create interest about the film as there's a lot resting upon Alia-Arjun's on-screen chemistry.

Worth a watch

If the buzz is anything to by, the film shall do well. It is a complete family entertainer with all the elements in place. And regardless of if you like Chetan Bhagat's novels or not, 2 States is definitely worth a watch. But will the audience really watch it? Guess we will have to wait!
