Every few years Rajnikanth defies everything we think we know about movies. Just the fact that he is in a movie, makes it more than just entertainment. It's a grand event.
In case you still don't know what is the fuss about Rajnikanth's Kabali all about, you need to read these facts.
It is the first time Rajinikanth will play the character near his real-age. Although digitally enhanced younger version of his character will appear on the screen for 20 minutes.
So what is Kabali? Actually, in big-hero Tamil movies,, it is an unwritten rule that the film’s name is the shortened version of the lead character's name. In this film too, Rajini plays Kabaleeshwaran.
Rajini has reportedly been paid for ₹50 crore for his role in the film.
Kabali is the first Indian movie to be released in Malay. The film will also be released in Telugu, Hindi and Japanese, and will get a Chinese release in a few months.
It might be surprising but Rajnikanth doesn't exactly play the lead character in the film. His role has been called scene-stealing.
To avoid people knowing the story, the scenes were shuffled first and only then sent for the dubbing process.
To avoid mass bunks and sick leaves, several offices in South India have announced holiday on the day of release. Also, the #KabaliLeaveLetter hashtag is trending on Twitter.
There has been no trailers for the movie. Only one teaser has been released and that has viewed over 27 million times, which is more than Sultan.
