8 Actresses Who Prove That Marriage Isn't The End Of A Woman's Career!

Marriage and motherhood were supposed to be the end of an actor’s career, until our Bollywood beauties decided to take a U-Turn and break the stereos!

While Shilpa Shetty, Sonali Bendre, and Urmila Matondkar, have clearly said good bye to the movies, there are some who are still fighting it out at the box-office and age to remain a part of the glamour world!

We trace some filmy journeys of actresses who are living with their better halves.

Kajol

The uni-browed Simran from DDLJ is now 41, and she still has the charisma to make men go weak in the knees! She wasn’t the quintessential heroine whose smile could steal a million hearts or sweep hot hunks of their feet. Frankly, nobody remembers Kajol for her looks or costumes. She’s fondly remembered for what she’s excellent at, i.e. ACTING!

Before getting hitched to Ajay Devgn (who’s now the unbeatable King of 100 Cr club), Kajol had done enough to be remembered as a great actress and not many expected her to return, only to kill it, yet again! Kajol made a thumping comeback in 2001 with K3G for K Jo. Her charm and wit were intact! She then welcomed her kids and took a sabbatical for almost 6 years.

In 2006, Fanaa, where she played a blind girl, didn’t quite create the buzz her fans expected. Post that, she’s done a handful of films, out of which only My Name Is Khan (2012) is the biggest hit in recent times. Diwale, unfortunately bombed with the audiences, though she left a lot of critics spellbound with her exceptional fitness. She can still give her contemporaries a run for their money when she sports a six yard chiffon sari or stilettoes like she did in Dilwale. 

But Senorita, we need to see more of you and the best of you!

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Think of one good character you remember Bebo for! The answer is NONE, in the recent times. The very first few images that come to our mind are that of Golmaal series, Fevicol Se, Mera Naam Mary Hai, Halkat Jawani, or if you ponder too much, you realize you just saw her in Udta Punjab. Thanks to Alia, she stole her thunder!

She’s the same Geet and Chameli who were adored back in the 2000s. She was brave enough to attempt a prostitute’s role at the age of 21! But we don’t see her making the right choices when it comes to signing memorable roles. What you cannot take away from her is the scintillate planning of never being out of sight and out of mind from the silver screen. She’s not stopped raking moolahs at the B.O. and her endorsement kitty also seems to be full.

After becoming Begum Kareena Kapoor Khan Pataudi, she’s not given us much to savour. She did do huge films like Bajrangi and 3 Idiots, but the Khans overshadowed her! So if we were to rephrase it, we’d say, she’s made the right choices in terms of maintaining her status as a star, but not as an actress for sure. While people still call Kareena, the queen of overacting due to K3G and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, we cannot forget that acting runs in her blood! You cannot take their aorta of acting from her.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

What could possibly go wrong when you’re the most beautiful woman in the world, you’ve got a husband as loyal as Junior B, and of course when you belong to the first family of Bollywood, the Bachchans?

But, things didn’t quite go well after Guru (that’s when AB and she got married post the release) for Aishwarya. Except for Jodha Akbar where she stunned with her magnificent good looks, Aish has not given us the Paro we loved and Nandini from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. These two are the only memorable roles we remember her for, where she craft synced with her beauty!

Jazbaa didn’t get her the required response and love from her fans and all our hopes are now lying on Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Like she touched fists in Hum Dil to choose between right and wrong, we hope this time Aish has touched the right fist!

Vidya Balan

Vidya was at the peak of her career when she married UTV’s head honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur. After reigning the box-office as Silk Smitha from Dirty Picture, Vidya created her own niche of characters and she still stands high on the grounds of acting. Her latest venture as Geeta Bali in Marathi film Ekk Albela is being received very well, and Kahaani 2 is also round the corner. Yet, we’re unsure of her choices post wedlock, because Humari Adhuri Kahani… Sigh!

Madhuri Dixit

The Dhak Dhak girl has been ruling the television industry as a judge on different dance reality shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. But, after Devdas, her career is yearning for a catapult effect because Ghaghra from YJHD is all we can recall as ‘memories’ of her from films to say the least.

Madhuri’s expressions and the benefit of being the dancing queen has added to her star value from her movies past, but after becoming Mrs. Nene and being out of sight for many years, she’s yet to leave us speechless with another iconic performance. At 49, yes you read it right,  she’s way more fitter and gorgeous than any of her counterparts, and we hope she makes the right choices to make our hearts go dhak dhak again!
