Best of James Cameron

James Cameron is one of Hollywood’s most sought after and successful directors. He made Titanic which went on to become the highest grossing film in the world only to be beaten by his magnum opus, Avatar. Yes, this man made two of the highest grossing films of all time! Described by a biographer as part-scientist and part-artist, he took special effects to a whole new level by co-developing the 3D Fusion Camera System. Did we mention he has won three Oscars?

So, on the occasion of his birthday, let's revisit the best of James Cameron!

1. Titanic (1997)

Titanic holds many records - It received the highest number of Oscar nominations for a film (14) and the highest number of Oscar wins (11). It was the highest grossing film of all time until another James Cameron movie took the lead.Records and numbers aside, the film captured the hearts of the world at the time of release and continues to do so.An epic romance which also made grown men cry. Titanic is a well-crafted disaster film and a motion picture event unlike any other in cinematic history.

2. Avatar (2009)

Cameron created a whole new planet, a whole new species of aliens and a whole new language for the biggest and riskiest movie ever made. Avatar took 10 years and $300 million to make. A simple love story caught in a conflict between man and nature told through the unparalleled imagination and technical brilliance of James Cameron. This was more than a movie, this was an experience.

3. A tie between The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)

James Cameron's Terminator films remain one of the most original science fiction films of all time. T2: Judgment Day is also a treat for action film fans with lots of repeat value and rare case when the sequel is better than the original. Arnold Schwarzenegger own his role and became a big movie star due to these films.

4. Aliens (1986)

James Cameron took on the sequel to Ridley Scott’s extra terrestrial horror flick, Alien and made it bigger, better and scarier. Aliens was a spectacular science-fiction thriller and it’s one of the best sequels ever made.

5. The Abyss (1989)

The Abyss is not just one of James Cameron's most underrated movies but also one of the most underrated sci-fi films with brilliant special effects. A cool concept of underwater aliens combined with Cameron's execution helps making it an endearing thriller.

6. True Lies (1994)

True Lies is a satirical take on the life of a secret agentwith playful chemistry between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. We'd like to see James Cameron do another comedy. With lots of action, of course!
