Box Office: Sultan Stays Solid, Great Grand Masti Suffers Bigtime!

Minting on its supremely powerful reign at box office, Sultan enjoyed yet another bountiful weekend at the box office. Having made a total of 229 crores in its 9 day opening week, the film didn’t show any signs of slowing down. The Salman Khan starrer earned a massive 34 crores in its second weekend, taking its chances to quickly enter the 300 crore mark a notch higher. Considering the kind of response the film has been getting, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK’s record are under a threat.

On the other hand, this week’s other fresh release, the Indra Kumar directed sex comedy Great Grand Masti fell victim to its online leak. While the sequel had earned a massive 100 crores, this instalment was absolutely dismal to everyone’s surprise. The film could only make a total of 5 crores in its first 2 days and Sunday didn’t witness any substantial growth either. Given the atrocious feedback to its credit along with an overdose of sex comedies this year, Great Grand Masti would most likely find its  fate sinking.

The other Hollywood release Ice Age: Collision Course was quite surprising! The film performed much better than Great Grand Masti and garnered a total of 8.50 crores in the weekend. With a tough competition in the likes of Sultan and Great Grand Masti, the Hollywood animated movie has indeed put up a good show. With Madaari, Star Trek and Rajinikanth’s epic Kabali to hit the screens this week, the proceedings will further take more shapes. Let’s watch out for the space!
