The film has earlier won the Best Film in the Horizons category at the 71st Venice International Film Festival where it was premiered in September, 2014. A new director with a cast of newcomers has swept everybody off their feet and has set an impeccable example.
Amol Palekar, Chairman of India's Oscar Jury, revealed that the decision to send Court to the awards was unanimous and it was sent alongside 29 other films.
Court's entry has been hailed by Bollywood's critics and celebrities but Rahul Rawail, a part of the 17 member jury, resigned soon after the big announcement due to difference with Amol Palekar!
Jst wanna clarify tht am proud of Court n fully support its selection I resigned from th Oscar jury bcoz of Mr Palekars obnoxious behaviour
