FAN Fails The ‘Monday’ Test! Drops 70 % From Friday

It only has to be seen as a cruel reality to all that hard work SRK put in to shed out a performance as persuasive as this. After the opening weekend figures of Shah Rukh’s Fan couldn’t live up to the hype it deserved, all eyes were then set to see how it takes the crucial Monday test. Admittedly so, FAN has failed the litmus test it really needed to excel in. There’s no reviving to this colossal venture that looks dimming to shatter a lot of hopes.

After having garnered a modest 52 crores in its opening weekend, while the need of the hour was to show some strength on weekdays, the film fell as deep as 70 percent from its opening day figure and could only collect a mere 6 crores. For an SRK release that has a high brand value attached, this should surprise any cinematic mind in the business.

The film with a total of 58 crores so far isn’t looking at a very high lifetime box office figure, although with no big releases slated to release in the next two weeks, there’s still some hopes for this YRF production. After a relatively distasteful outing in India with Dilwale a few months back, Fan may further destabilize the roots of Shah Rukh Khan the brand. Our only fear coming out of the picture is if it pushes SRK back to pick projects like Happy New Year or Dilwale.
