Not Jhanvi Kapoor But These Bollywood Actresses Can Play The Perfect ‘Archi’ From Sairat

The first of its kind mainstream Marathi film that questioned the caste hierarchies in the country with a love story, Sairat created a sensation like no other Marathi film this year. The film that had Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in the lead was profoundly acclaimed by the critics and also was the first Marathi film to enter the 100 crore club.

Karan Johar seems to have fallen in love with the story a tad bit more than anyone else as he went on to purchase the rights of a Hindi remake of the film. Ever since the big news broke out there have been speculations as to who in Hindi cinema will be able to re create the piercing love story on screen.  Now since there is a lot of buzz about Karan Johar launching Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor in a film of his own, there are a lot of rumors weather the film is Siarat.

News is that if all goes well, Jahnvi will play Archi on screen for the Hindi remake of the film. While we totally stand by the fact that Sairat is one of those movies whose beauty lies in the original and there should never be a remake ever attempted, we certainly hope that if Karan has taken on the difficult task then he does wholehearted justice to the film.  This news however makes it difficult for us to imagine her in this role and a film with such a sensitive subject. 

Here are however the actresses we expect to be able to fill in the shoes of a sober looking yet strong character of Archi better, that Rinku Rajguru played in Sairat exceptionally well.

Alia Bhatt – After she floored us with her acting skills in films like Udta Punjab and Highway, in very non glamorous roles, we are sort of convinced that she can pull off this strong role with some ease. Her innocent looks and yet dominant acting skills make her a good fit for the role.

Bhumi Padnekar – This actress can perhaps do the most justice to the role and is phenomenal choice for the de-glam avatar. We would love her to do this film and it could also be her breakthough performance in the industry.

Navya Naveli – If any star kid fits the look to play Achi perfectly on screen it’s Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli. We think she could play the strong character well in the Hindi remake.

As far as the news about Jhanvi’s debut goes we certainly expected a more glamorous debut something on the lines of Student Of The Year sort for her. Moreover rumor has it that Sridevi wants to launch her daughter in a big commercial project and this one somehow might not fit that bill.
