Queen's box-office fate... will it be great?
Updated : May 06, 2014 10:43 AM ISTKangana Ranaut is back in town and with a new film this time. The 26-year-old Krrish 3 actress, who has been making dab appearances at various media events and television shows, is clearly leaving no stoned unturned to promote her latest flick Queen. But is it going worth this time? We take a look...
1. Back for good
Kangana, who was apparently in New York for a scriptwriting course, left it midway because she had to return to India to promote Queen. Well, her commitment is indeed commendable.
2. Box-office destiny
Though Krrish 3 did well at the box-office, Kangana is yet to give a solo hit and prove her star value. We all know what happened to Rajjo. But mind you Queen is no Rajjo. Kangana has clearly moved on and is totally determined to change it all. She recently patched up Anurag Basu as well. They had a fall-out during Kites as her role was chopped off unceremoniously. But Anurag recently called Kangana after seeing the rushes of Queen and they had a long meeting and sorted our their issues. Smart move. More films to come perhaps.
3. Why only her
Ask us, she has got the buzz right. Her performance in Queens is being praised by her colleagues. Explaining why he zeroed down his choice to Kangana, director Vikas Bahl said, “We spent 15-20 days of discussing and then narrowed down on her. Kangana belongs to Himachal and she is familiar with those (pahadi) girls – their accent, dressing, body language etc. So it became easy for me. What Kangana has done is real and not caricaturish.” Can't argue with the director, can you?
4. Worth a watch
Produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, Queen also stars Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon. It is a strong film and deserves to be watched. But will the audience really appreciate it? Guess we will have to wait!
