M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story Has A 100 And Here’s Why It Is Most Special This Year!

The strike rate that M.S. Dhoni plays with on the field has been replicated in his film’s theatrical run as well. The Sushant Singh Rajput starrer has now finally joined the 100 crore club and has lived up to its potential. It’s a well-made century for M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story.

While the film had already made its intentions clear on the first day, it took a total of 9 days to make it to 100 crores. Going by the numbers we have for this year, this is the second fastest film (with Rustom) to have made it big. Also in a gloomy 2016, this is only the fifth film to potently earn 100 crores and beyond at the box office. The film in fact remained the first choice of audiences even after the new releases and collected handsome figures.

The Neeraj Pandey directorial on its second Friday collected 4.07 crores and grew substantially on Saturday with 5.20 crores. It is now placed with a total of 1-3 crores and is expected to survive this complete week as well.

While the other 100 crore grossers have been Salman Khan’s Sutan and three of Akshay Kumar movies, what makes the success of M.S. Dhoni special is its uniqueness. While Neeraj could never hit a 100 with his thrillers and a star like Akshay, he’s done it here with Sushant Singh Rajput. This is also a first for Sushant as well as a solo release and he must be pn the cloud 9 as well. With a sports biopic faring as well as Dhoni has, the figures for 2016 suddenly appear to be glowing. It’s just refreshing for a good film to be declared a big hit in 2016.
