Gauahar Khan's New Short Film Peanut Butter Reminds You What It Really Means To Be Strong Independent Woman

There are a thousand reasons why being a single mother is seen as necessarily bad. Be it all about log ka socheinge to the death of personal ambitions, there is no lack of reasons why thousands of women abort their unborn child thinking it’s the right thing to do. A 20 minutes short film, starring Gauahar Khan and Dhiraj Totlani called Peanut Butter is here to make you think twice about what really is the right thing to do.

A 28 years old single investment banker, Priya Mathur, discovers that she’s pregnant and decides to abort the child. As she’s ready to leave for the doctor’s clinic a stranger shows up at her door, asking for peanut butter to remove the gum stuck on his shoe. Not only does he delays her appointment but is just not willing to leave.

The guy surprisingly knows her well and even knows that she is pregnant. She later discovers that her grown up unborn child has come all the way back in time to remind her to why she is going for an abortion for all the wrong reasons.

He gives her hope for a good future, promises to stand by her and face all and everything together and reminds her to be strong and not to regret her decisions and to find a Plan A rather than living permanently with all Plan Bs.

As the day ends and her son goes away, she has made her decision.

It reminds you how being a mother would always be challenging single or not and the world would fall short of nothing if you decide that you do not want the child. But if you choose to go ahead and be a mother all by yourself, then remember it’s not a dead end but a beautiful new beginning.

The film is simple in its concept but leaves you with a lot to think about, especially if you idealize the concept of being a strong, independent woman. It’s not all about making your own money and living all by yourself, but about being the decision maker of your own life and standing by your choices.
