SRK Has Got Another Clash To Avert & Here’s Why He Will Surrender Yet Again
Updated : March 28, 2017 12:10 PM ISTThe film industry is in no mood to leave SRK alone! What has our poor King Khan done to deserve this? Having discovered SRK’s vulnerability around box office clashes, filmmakers, producers and distributors are just not scared to take him on at the ticket counters. The latest addition to sadistic chronicles of SRK and his movie releases has come with a special appearance of Akshay Kumar. If reports are to go by, the presumably biggie starring the actor titled Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is all set to clash with SRK-Anushka’s upcoming movie.
While the Imtiaz Ali directorial was expected to release on August 11th, the makers of Toilet Ek Prem Katha are also coming out on the same day. As much as we expect this clash to get averted, we can almost see who’s getting more nervous and surrendering first.
The Backdrop
Right from Ajay Devgn clashing with him during Diwali 2012 to Rakesh Roshan snatching away his sleep during Raees, Shah Rukh has rarely got a vacant release slot in the last few years barring Happy New Year and Fan.
Why Shah Rukh Khan is a Clash Favorite
The fact that every movie on the opposite side has benefitted by clashing with SRK makes him an obvious clash favorite. While Bajirao Mastani in 2015 beat Dilwale hands down, Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil also excelled cashing in on the mileage garnered through the clash. In whichever case, team SRK has found its prospect heavily dented.
Why Shah Rukh is More Likely To Surrender & Move Once Again
None of Shah Rukh’s last four releases have even touched the 150 crore mark. Fan and Dear Zindagi nowhere even close to 100. At a time when 300 crores is being touted as a synonym to Khans, the evident underperformance of Shah Rukh’s movies is a sign of concern. The commercial masala outings like Dilwale and Raees suffered bigtime owing to the clashes they were involved in and Shah Rukh can’t really afford another one at the moment.
While he twice shifted the release of Raees ahead to avoid clash with Salman Khan’s Sultan, taking on Akshay Kumar would not be a healthy suggestion to him at the moment.
Also the fact that Akshay Kumar is in the form of his life may play around the minds of team SRK. While Akshay beat Hrithik’s Mohenjo Daro quite handsomely with Rustom, his four back to back 100 crore movies have made him the most bankable box office property at the moment.
It’s not too late Shah Rukh, you can still book Diwali. Hasn’t it always proved to be lucky for you?
