A Tribute to Yash Chopra

Yash Chopra passed away in 2012 leaving many film fans dejected. We will never see a new Yash Chopra film in the theaters again. The King of Romance may not have given us one last masterpiece on his way out but instead of whining over what-could-have-been, we would like to concentrate on what-was! Contrary to popular belief, he didn't just make love stories but powerful dramas that are certified classics of Hindi cinema.

He also worked with many big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Sunil Dutt, Dharmendra, Shashi Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.

Being a Yash Chopra heroine was considered an honour for every actress in the industry. Sridevi, Jaya Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Rekha, Hema Malini, Rakhee, Sharmila Tagore, Neetu Singh, Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma were the women who could easily claim that this man made them look the best.

Needless to say, Yash Chopra left behind some movies that will remain treasures of Hindi cinema for many years to come. While he single-handedly created the concept of the big budget Bollywood blockbuster, he also started the trend of an all star cast with films like Waqt and Kabhi Kabhie.
