Oscars 2021: Chadwick Boseman Fans Feel Cheated After The Late Actor Loses Best Actor To Anthony Hopkins
Oscars 2021: Chadwick Boseman Fans Feel Cheated
Updated : April 26, 2021 02:15 PM ISTOscars 2021winners are sure to be celebrating their success after a tough year like 2020. Despite a great show of diversity at the 93rd Academy Awards this year, fans of late actor Chadwick Boseman are not happy. The Black Panther star, who died of colon cancer last year, became the first black actor to be nominated posthumously for an Oscar ever for his performance in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
Chadwick Boseman was nominated in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category for this George C. Wolfe film. While his fans were certain of the late star’s Oscar win, they were sorely disappointed when Sir Anthony Hopkins for The Father was declared the winner in the category which was announced at the very end of the socially distanced Oscars ceremony.

Boseman posthumously swept the awards season at most other award shows except the BAFTA and Independent Spirit Awards. He won at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and his fans were all prepared to see him being declared the winner at the Academy Awards too.
Disappointed at Chadwick losing, several fans dissed the Oscars for not recognizing the late star. Some fans accused Oscars of using the actor’s death as bait to bring in viewership and then failed at honoring him.

undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >so the academy baited everyone into thinking chadwick boseman was going to win by putting best actor off until the last moment, didn't give him a special tribute, commodified his death with an nft, and made his family sit through an entire ceremony without honoring him in any way

undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >award shows need to stop nominating people who pass away if they aren’t going to give them the award. chadwick boseman gave unbelievable performances in his short time and to not give him that award after all he’s done is repulsive. it’s disrespectful to him and his family

undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >its sick how transparent the academy was in using chadwick boseman just for clicks and views, building everything up to the best actor award and inviting his family and giving him a tribute AND putting his head in gift bags and not giving him ANYTHING.... he deserves more respect
