Bollywood has often been criticised for creating an overly simplified version of life and events. Yes, the resulting so-called entertainment is fun to watch at times but does it serve a purpose a society?
In our world today, terrorism is a perpetual threat. Almost every day we receive news from around the world regarding inhumane activities occurring and affecting innocent people. It is not a new phenomenon of course as it is a threat common people have been facing for the longest of time.
So obviously it is only necessary for filmmakers -- given how powerful their medium is -- to tackle such a subject in their movies.

This Neeraj Pandey film about 2008 Mumbai terror attacks did many things correctly which many movies fail at. The director build the tension gradually, never losing sight of its aim. The film's performances, on-point action sequences and great screenplay added to the film's success.

Nishikant Kamat's finest film follows the aftermath of 2006 Mumbai train bombings, this movie tells the story of five people who are affected by the event.
#4 HAIDER
Though there a lot of themes dealt in this Vishal Bhardwaj, it is hard to ignore the tension and paranoia of Kashmiri people in this complex time.
#3 A WEDNESDAY
Another Neeraj Pandey film. This movie about a common man's angst against the evil of terrorism is raw, honest and thought provoking.
#2 DROHKAAL
This potrayal of how people of law enforcement go through to exterminate the threat of terrorism is haunting. The film features an excellent star cast and brilliant dialogue.
#1 BLACK FRIDAY
Arguably the best Anurag Kashyap movie, this bold and comprehensive project about the aftermath of 1993 Bombay Bombings. Featuring a plethora of fine performances, this movie will stay with you for a very long time.
