11 Bollywood Celebrities Who Became Victims Of The Death Hoax

Internet is a weird and at times a scary place. One of the terrifying things that internet is capable of is to spread lies to a whole lot of people very quickly and effectively. And such is the power of the internet that nobody is safe from it.

And one of the by-products is the trend of death hoaxes, especially ones involving celebrities. And Bollywood celebrities, being among the most followed on earth, have also become victims of that.

So on that note, here are the biggest death hoaxes Bollywood has faced:

Madhuri Dixit

The legendary actress became the victim of internet confusion when t was reported she died due to a massive heart attack. In fact, a woman bearing the same name had died nearby her place which led to the unsavoury internet frenzy.

Katrina Kaif

In 2013, a Facebook page declared Katrina Kaif dead. This obviously caused huge internet frenzy and the actress' fan went into a panic. Eventually, the page announced that it was just a death hoax.

Amitabh Bachchan

A few years ago, Big B was reported to have been killed in an accident in the United States. Things went so crazy that people started to talk about the gruesome details of the accident. There was also talk about the actor's funeral procession.

Lata Mangeshkar

The nightingale of India was also a victim of the death hoax. After a false news story, people became frenzied on Twitter and started to offer condolences. Eventually, the legendary singer denied the rumours herself.

Rajnikanth

In 2011, Rajnikanth was hospitalized due to allergic bronchitis and viral infection. And that led to fake news story of the actor dying. Eventually, the actor's wife came ahead and assured that Rajni was alive and well.

Dilip Kumar

One of the best actors the country has ever had, Dilip Kumar was a victim of the death hoax on THREE separate occasions. Once the actor was declared dead via a Whatsapp message. Then, when he was hospitalized, there were fake reports about his death. And he fell prey to this Ponzi scheme after Arpita Khan’s wedding. 

Ayushman Khurrana

The actor fell into this vicious trap when there was news of him dying after a snowboarding accident. According to the fake news, he had been on a family trip when the snowboarding accident occurred. When things went overboard, the actor himself denied the rumours.

Yo Yo Honey Singh

One of the latest victims of this scandal is rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. Things started when convincing fake pictures of him started to circulate the internet. It took days for things to calm down.

Aishwarya Rai

The most recent death hoax. According to some outlets, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan committed suicide and this too had led to social media frenzy, with certain fans feeling really aggrieved by the situation.

Fareeda Jalal

The latest celebrity to fall victim to the infamous death hoax. And things escalated so quickly that the veteran actress had to come out and issue a statement herself: " I am hale and hearty. I don’t know from where these baseless rumours are coming from. Initially I laughed, but from last 30 mins my phone have been constantly ringing and everybody is asking the same question. It’s a bit irritating, I wonder why people spread such rumours.”

Shweta Tiwari 

Popular TV actress Shweta Tiwari was roped into the the long list of celebrity death hoax rumors when a Fan Page of actress Sakshi Tanwar posted a short condolence message that went viral on the internet and also worried her family. The post read, “I feel very sad and shocked on knowing that Shweta Tiwari (Prerna) of Kasautii Zindagi Kay lost the battle with life and is no more. RIP Shweta. Balaji Telefilms and the whole team will miss you…” Shweta’s husband Abhinav Kohli got really worried and contacted her since she was away from home.
