Kabir Singh’s Box-Office Number Battled These Odds To Become Shahid Kapoor’s Biggest Solo Hit!
Updated : June 25, 2019 01:33 AM ISTKabir Singh has turned out to be one of the biggest solo hits in Shahid Kapoor's career. Shahid, who has been in the industry for almost one and a half decade, has given one of his best performances in Kabir Singh and audiences have been lauding it, despite a very controversial plot and characterisation of the lead. In fact, such has been the craze for the film that it has registered the second highest grossing weekend collection of 2019 after Salman Khan's Bharat.
But If we compare to all the releases of 2019, Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh has braved many odds to reach the feat that it has achieved. Wondering what obstacles have made Kabir Singh's box-office success even more spectacular? Well, here are a few reasons:
1. Non-holiday release
Kabir Singh is one of those rare films that have done well despite releasing on a non-holiday Friday. All the other films that have done well in 2019 had an extended weekend collection and yet Kabir Singh managed to beat them all and be the second highest weekend grosser of the year!
2. Normal Ticket pricing
It has been a norm that ticket prices are hiked with big releases. Take Bharat for example, a film whose tickets were sold at higher than the usual cost. Despite normal pricing, the film raked good numbers at the BO.
3. Release during World Cup
The film hs released in between the on-going Cricket World Cup, which is a big deal here. The World Cup is the reason that a lot of projects have been shifted around, for example, The Zoya Factor. In fact, despite a match day for India in between, people actually went to the theatres to watch the film!
4. A-Rated film
The fact that the film is A rated and not U/A contributes to a significant loss of the young population. This also means that this is not a film which people will go for with their families. Despite this restraint, the fact that the film has collected such huge numbers show that it has indeed been popular with the audiences!
