Looks like Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu’s AndhaDhun is done surprising us. First, the films took us by surprise due to its killer content and then with its box-office business. But now AndhaDhun is giving us a fresh surprise by having a killer run at the Chinese box-office as well. The film has already crossed the 200 crore mark that too in its 13^th day.

However, it is not just about the cash registers ringing, the success of AndhaDhun in China is unique in some many ways.

Firstly, it is the first non-Khan film to witness such success in China. Previously, only Dangal, Secret Super Star and Bajraangi Bhaijaan saw such amazing box-office numbers. The only other non-Khan film that did exceptional business was Hindi Medium but AndhaDhun has managed to rake in 200 crores on its 13^th day itself while Hindi Medium was only on 43.9 crores on its 13^th Day.

China has always welcomed Indian films that have a very strong emotional content and all of them have a child in the center of things. However, Andhadhun is a total departure from this trend which points out that there is indeed a strong market for intelligent content in the Chinese market. This also means that the market for Indian films in China is not just limited to a particular of content, but it is indeed Bollywood in its entirety that China has taken fancy to.

The makers of AndhaDhun can also treat this like a huge compliment. China itself has a film industry that is quite strong at the thriller game. In fact, Chinese thrillers like Bai Ri Yan Huo have been the toast of international film festivals as well. Also, China is now a consumer of South Korean films who probably make some of the best thrillers in the world. So, let’s just say, when it comes to thrillers China has quite a refined taste. Thus, Chinese audience applauding AndhaDhun goes to show that it was not a fluke and Sriram Raghavan has indeed made a thriller that can compete among the best in the world.
