Here Is Why We Are Not So Sure About Total Dhamaal Being Our Perfect Weekend Plan

There is nothing like a mad cap comedy film to unwind after a hectic week. This weekend Total Dhamaal might be the perfect opportunity to do so. Starring Anil Kapoor, Madhuri dixit, Ajay Devgn and the recurring cast of Dhamaal franchise which includes Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh, Javed Jaffery, Johhny Lever and Sanjay Mishra , it is surely the biggest ensemble of the year.

Given the star-value of the film and the reputation of Dhamaal franchise, we would have generally not given a second thought about rushing to the theatres, but here are a few factors which are deterring our excitement a bit but at the same time there are factors that are making us want to give it a shot. Here are our dilemmas.

Comedy Seems More Mad Than Funny

We do not have anything against madcap comedies, in fact, we love them. But if the trailer of the film is anything to go by then there is more madness than there are genuinely funny moments. Most of the jokes almost feels like Whatsapp forwards from your uncles. If the trailer of a comedy movie does not make us enjoy the comedy in it, then what’s the point really?

Anil Madhuri Comeback

This is probably one of the biggest USP of the film. Throughout the late 80s and 90s they have literally ruled the silver screen both individually and together and seeing them together on screen after so many years is one visual treat that is our biggest reason to give this film a shot.

Music Is Doing Nothing For Us

The movie has so far dropped three tracks, two of them being remakes. Apart from Mungda, which is one of the very few decent remakes, Yeh Paisa is absolutely uninteresting and Speaker Phat Jaye almost borders on being annoying. The music of the film is really not impressing us one bit!

Bad VFX

From the looks of it in the trailer not only has an overdose of VFX but the quality of it is almost laughable. The animals especially, which are there is absolute abundance, looks incredibly fake. It is anyway visually unnerving to watch bad VFX and Total Dhamaal on top of it is literally drowning in the flood of it. This combination cannot possibly make for an enjoyable viewing experience.

Talented Star Cast

Apart from Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit’s screen reunion, the other big reason that has sustained our interest in the film. The recurring cast of the franchise which includes Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh, Javed Jaffery and Sanjay Mishra are all talented actors and Javed Jaffery and Sanjay Mishra are actors who can turn anything into comedy gold.
