8 Bollywood Films Of 2017 We Were Too Harsh On

Often, there are times when we decide to pass on a good thing and later on come to realize of its worth. This thing holds very true in the case of movies as sometimes when a film is released, audiences pass on those films for a variety of reasons. Maybe the film didn't appeal to them at that time, the word of mouth or the critical reviews which are based on a single person's perspective and end up hurting the film's business.

It is not like that the movies that didn't get their due are critical gems but here's the catch, they aren't that bad either. When we watch these films either on TV or stream online or on our smartphones one fine day, we realize that we missed out on a good film that would have entertained s for 2 odd hours. Here's a list of 8 Bollywood Films of 2017 we were too harsh on:

Jab Harry Met Sejal- One of the films that had really high expectations due to its cast and director fell flat upon its release. We thought it would be another soul-searching Imtiaz Ali drama where SRK will portray one of his most intense characters. It was something that actors and the director repeatedly said wasn't the case and it was a light-hearted film and should be watched that way. Now, if you will watch the film, you'll feel what the SRK-Imtiaz Ali meant.

Tubelight- Hard to believe but the 3rd outing of Kabir Khan-Salman Khan didn't exactly please the crowds like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Ek Tha Tiger. One of the major reason was the complex narratives Kabir Khan dealt with and the performance of Salman Khan as a dim-witted person. Maybe the audience is used to the swagger full and uber cool characters of Bhai and that was hard to digest but it's one of Salman Khan's best 'acting' performances.

Lucknow Central- This was a film plagued by its own narrative. From the trailers, the audiences deduced that it would be a hard-hitting Prison Breakesqe adventure and not the character study in lines with the prison system in our country. Despite a solid cast and some great performances it never resonated much with the crowd.

Rangoon- The Vishal Bhardwaj directed film has its flaws but the way it was ignored at cinema halls was painful to see. The film was uplifted by a remarkable performance from Kangana Ranaut and there are some interesting plots in the film. Too bad it was plagued by harsh reviews.

Behen Hogi Teri- Sometimes, good films are either crushed by a clash with big films or sometimes they have the unfortunate honour of clashing with a big-budgeted disaster that eats away its audience share for the weekend. This happened with Behen Hogi Teri, which clashed with Raabta. Its a small town rom-com starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role and the audiences missed on another gem of a performance from him.

Simran- The Kangana Ranaut starrer was marred by Hrithik-Kangana controversy and Kangana's clash with the film's scriptwriter. The outside drama kept the audiences away from the theatres and hardly anyone noticed a brave attempt by Hansal Mehta-Kangana Ranaut combo. 

Begum Jaan- Some of the good films also end up at the receiving end of critics' bat during the IPL. The film was released during IPL and that harmed its business but at the same time, people were too harsh as they were expecting another Dirty Picture of film from Vidya Balan. The film though is now praised for its story ad Chunky Pandey's performance as the villain.

Meri Pyaari Bindu- The Ayushmann Khurrana-Parineeti Chopra was bogged down by highly critical reviews. Though the film is not as bad as its made out to be and should be given a watch.
