Bollywood Half-Yearly Report Ranked: 5 Films With The Highest First Week Collection Of 2019!

A number of films hit century this year and we also had Uri: The Surgical Strike that created a record of sorts for lead actor Vicky Kaushal.

The multi-starrer film was the third installment of the Dhamaal franchise. Even though Double Dhamaal failed to make the audiences laugh, Total Dhamaal did manage to tickle the audiences with its jokes. In fact, people were also excited to see Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit together. The film collected 94.55 crores in its first week.
Zoya Akhtar was back and this time, she had brought together two of the most talented youngsters of the generation together- Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The story was inspired by the real life experiences of Divine and Naezy Baa. Needless to say, this had been one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film released on a Thursday, on 14th Februray. So, it had an extended week 1 of 8 days in which it collected ₹ 100.30 crores.
If Akshay Kumar has a release on a holiday, there is least doubt that the film will have a great opening and weekend collection. So when Kesari was released on a Thursday on 21st March, which also happened to be the day of Holi, audiences flocked to the theaters. In fact, the film maintained tempo and in the 8-days extended first week, it collected ₹ 105.86 crores.
Bharat had the best first week collection of the year. The Salman Khan film, that released on Eid, became Salman’s highest opener of all times. In fact, the raised ticket pricing and the 9-days extended weekend contributed a lot to its biz. It collected ₹ 180.05 crores in its first week, but died down soon after!
