These Are The Highest Grossing Flop Films Of Popular Bollywood Actors
Updated : July 10, 2018 04:33 PM ISTThey say that one must always look at the silver lining in the worst of times. That is definitely easier said than done and especially where one has a lot at stake monetarily. So that is what are trying to see in the cases of these Bollywood stars where we count the best amongst their worst.
Flops are loved by no actor and so is the case with these few but yet here we are looking at which of their flops grossed the highest at the box office.
Shah Rukh Khan has had a tough-luck ahead of Fan as well, with Jab Harry Met Sejal failing big time the box office in 2017, but this film has a special mention in his list of flops as the film came closest to his real life stardom. Fan flopped at the box office and only managed to gross 84.03 crores, where the expectations from this film were way higher. Fan is Shah Rukh Khan's highest grossing flop as Jab Harry Met Sejal earned just about 60 crores.
Once a period drama success with Jodha Akbar, Hrithik Roshan, and Ashutosh Gowariker failed big time in their second attempt with Mohenjo Daro. The 2016 film marked the Bollywood debut of actress Pooja Hegde, but the film that was made to make the age-old civilization come alive failed to attract audiences to the theatres but became the highest grossing flop of Hrithik's career in Bollywood so far.
Ajay Devgn has a strong hold at the box office and his fans seldom fail him whenever there is a movie releasing. But the actor failed big time with Action Jackson back in 2014, which was made on a huge budget of 92 crores. The film was a dud and really left fans disappointed despite high octane action sequences that Ajay had in the film.
We do not know why exactly Saif signed this movie, but it is on his own regret list. Humshakals was released in 2014 and despite being marketed as a promising comedy the film flopped big time at the box office. Saif had a triple role in Humshakals that also starred Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor. The movie grossed 52.73 crores at the box office.
After being worked on for 2 long years and getting almost shelved, Ranbir Kapoor's debut as a producer turned out to be not a great success with Jagga Jassos failing at the box office. The film is a music and is the story of a son who is on the lookout for his father. Jagga Jassos also stars Katrina Kaif who added another film to her then streak of flops.
His high octane energy can transform a film into an instant hit, but sadly that wasn't the case with Befikre which failed despite being an Aditya Chopra directorial. Another bold coming of age story that stars Vaani Kapoor and Ranveer Singh Befikre had set high expectations but the fans surely felt something was missing. The 2016 film grossed just 60.26 crores at the box office.
It's been a long while since Aamir Khan delivered a flop at the Bollywood box office but his highest grossing flop has nothing in comparison to his huge hits. Mangal Pandey that released over a decade ago in 2005, was his comeback after 4 long years. Aamir's period drama based on the mutiny of 1857 and grossed 27.86 crores at the box office with unpopular reviews.
While fans were fairly excited about Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt coming together for the first time on screen, Shaandaar a dud romantic comedy that failed to interest anyone. Directed by Vikas Behl who also made Queen starring Kangana Ranaut, ShaanDaar only earned 39.48 crores. It happens to be Shahid's highest grossing flop in Bollywood so far, but the actor rampantly made up with the magnanimous collections of Padmaavat.
The third edition to the Sarkar franchise in Bollywood, Sarkar Raj failed to draw much attention despite the popularity of the previous two films. Abhishek Bachchan has been consistent in the franchise and of all his flops in Bollywood Sarkar Raj has been the highest grosser. His hits include films like Guru, Housefull 3 and the Dhoom franchise.
Sidharth Malhotra after Student Of The Year and made varied movie choices that prevent from being stereotyped but some of his experiments failed to materialize into numbers at the box office. Brothers was one such film which also starred Akshay Kumar in the lead and grossed 70 crores in box office collections.
Arjun Kapoor is a full-on Bollywood masala actor when it comes to movie choices but it has not always worked in his favor. Tevar that also starred Sonakshi Sinha opposite him, was a massive flop when it released in theatres in 2015. But he made up for Tavar with his subsequent films like Ki and Ka, Half Girlfriend and Mubarakan.
