Updated : July 16, 2018 09:33 PM ISTThe world of TV is huge and given our growing love and obsession it will surely keep growing further. But even for an industry as big and accommodating as TV one has to go through some grind. While certain TV actors waited long for their chance, some turned attention to TV after Bollywood did not work out too well, there are some who gathered expertise in areas apart from acting.
Here are a list of TV actors who have worked in the industry but not necessarily as actors. Check out.!
We all know her as our favorite Gunjan from the hit television series, Sapne Suhaane Ladakpan Ke and some of her even marveled at her superb dancing skills in Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, but people who know enough about her would not be surprised. Before becoming an actress Roopal assisted Bollywood Choreographer Pony Verma and believe it or not she was choreographer for Vidya Balan in the song Mere Dholna from Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Yeah that took a while to register for us also!
He has been one of the most ideal husbands of Indian television with his role as Naitik in TV’s favorite show Yeh Rishtaa Kya Kehlata Hai. But very few people know that he has a degree in fashion designing from NIFT and has been the stylist of a film named Haastey Haastey which starred his now wife Nisha Rawal. A man of many talents, before getting into acting, Karan has also been an assistant director for big names in Bollywood like Rajkumar Hirani and Ram Gopal Varma.
We loved him in Diya Aur Baati Hum, but we started falling head over heels in love with him after watching Bigg Boss. His hot body and dashing good looks made him one of the hunkiest men in the Indian TV. In the show his camaraderie with host Salman Khan was unique and it was not for no reason. Before getting a break in TV, Gautam has worked as an assistant director. In fact, he was the assistant director for Salman Khan film Veer starring Salman Khan and Zarine Khan that was incidentally written by Salman Khan himself.
As the cute and intense Zain from Beintehaa, Harshad Arora wasted no time in becoming a TV heartthrob soon after he started out his TV acting career. A Delhi boy by origin, Harshad actually worked as a PR in the city and was involved in the public relations and promotions of Bollywood films in Delhi. He then went to Mumbai to pursue a career in modeling and acting and got his big break with Beinteha. Interestingly his co-star, Preetika Rao, who is the sister of Bollywood actor Amrita Rao was also closely associated with media as she was a journalist and wrote about film in many dailies.
He might be a bonafide Bollywood celebrity now, but lovers of Indian television will always remember him as Manav from Pavitra Rishta. After leaving his engineering mid way, he came to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. He also joined Shiamak Davar’s classed and soon became a star pupil. Before breaking into TV and eventually becoming a Bollywood star, Sushant worked as a background dancer and can seen in several songs like Dhoom Again from Dhoom 2 dancing behind the Bollywood biggies.
As an HRD minister Smriti Irani has almost erased her past as one of the most popular actresses of television ever. She immortalized the role of Tulsi Virani in the legendary daily soap Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Thi that had an epic run and popularity and in many ways revolutionized Indian television. But before she bagged the role of a lifetime on Kyunkii Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thii, she was into modeling and appeared as a back ground dancer in one of Mika Singh’s songs.
If Tulsi is there, can Parvaati be far behind? Sakshi Tanwar as Parvati in the popular soap Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii gave the ultimate takkar to Smriti Irani’s Tulsi. Both the shows, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi were immensely popular with the masses and so were Smriti and Saakshi. While we think we know a lot about her, very few people know that Sakshi has worked as a creative head for a show on Doordarshan named Samman.
We might remember him as Swayam from Kahiin to Hoga and as Rakshanda Khan’s husband, but Sachin Tyagi is one interesting man beyond that as well. He was previously into buying and selling car and also has an interest in furniture making. But what really sets him apart is the fact that he is an accomplished musician too. He not sings pretty well himself but has also wrote lyrics for a song sung by Bollywood singer Madhusree. Now that is what we call a man of many talents.
From TV to Bollywood films, Bakhtiyar Irani has managed to make us laugh every time he has presented him in front of us audiences. We have always loved all his antics and although somewhat chaotic, his stay at Bigg Boss house with wife Tanaz Currim is also quite memorable, but no matter how good your memory is, you probably do not remember seeing him in Kuch Kuch Hota. Well it is OK, because hardly anyone spotted him as a background dancer in the song ‘Mujhko Kya Hua Hai’ dancing behind Shah Rukh Khan. The guy in yellow shirt, that’s him!
This handsome actor of telly land is surely more than a looker. He had his TV debut in the show Kehnaa Hai Kuch Mujhko and went on to star in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii where he played the character of Parth. He was later seen in shows like Kartika, SaaraAkaash, Palki, Teen Bahuraniyan, Teri Meri Love Stories, Zaara, Salaam Zindagi and Silsila Hai Pyaar Ka. Bu apart from acting he is also a passionate dancer and has assisted many choreographers in Bollywood. A creative mind, he is also writing scripts for two upcoming Bollywood films.
