Manmarziyan Is An Urban Romantic Mess A La Anurag Kashyap
Updated : August 10, 2018 11:53 PM ISTThe trailer of the much-awaited Manmarziyaan is finally out. Starring Vicky Kaushal, Tapsee Pannu and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles, the film is Anurag Kashyap’s attempt on love stories. The trailer which starts with a passionate kiss between Vicky and Tapsee and ends with Tapsee talking about condoms on the phone while on her honeymoon looks like a fun and quirky ride with perhaps a heavy emotional and passionate undertones. Here is what we thought about the trailer.
The Looks Make An Impact
Vicky with his wannabe urban rapper look, Tapsee’s reddish and wild curls and Abhishek's’ sardar look is the first thing you notice in the trailer. The looks of the actors give out a vibe that they are not playing characters you have seen them play before. The looks immediately make you want to know about these characters, two of them quirky and wild and one, who according to Tapsee in the trailer, is a little ‘Ramji’ .
The Unusual Casting Works
From the first scene of the trailer itself, Vicky and Tapsee are really making their chemistry work. They look convincing as two mad people madly in love with each other. On the other hand, the chemistry between Tapsee and Abhishek which is supposed to be awkward we guess looks perfectly awkward. It is a team of competent actor that is making this unusual casting work.
The Story Ranges From Fun To Intense
One of the signature things about Anurag Kashyap’s film is the fact that the intensity of emotions is seamlessly blended with fun and acidic humor and Manmarziyaan is full of that as well. The characters played by the cast include a wild Vicky played by Vicky Kaushal, a feisty Rumi played by Tapsee Pannu and a sorted Robbie played by Abhishek Bachchan. Although it looks like the story is a play on love, responsibility, commitment phobia and perhaps even extra-marital affairs goes from funny to heart-wrenching in every alternative frame.
A Lot Of Punjabi-Ness
Understandably, the cast in the story is full on Punjabi, but from the dialogue to music to even some sensibilities, the film is a little high on Punjabi-ness. The music that is played in the background of the trailer is peppy and fun and sounds quite interesting and is sure to be popular with the masses.
Anurag Kashyap’s Idea Of Romance
Anurag Kashyap is one director who can thrive on chaos, complication, and raw human emotions, thus his take on romance is sure to have a fresh approach. His signature markers like swag, strong languages, mixing emotions with humor and above all making people a little uncomfortable are all their but the usage is very different. It will be interesting to see how he handles this romantic mess and justify the fact that relationships are not complicated but people are.
