TV Characters Who Committed Murder And Surprisingly Got Away With It
Updated : July 07, 2019 03:18 PM ISTAs loyal audiences who have consumed Indian TV serials for a while now, we have learned live with certain unique things that are only possible in the world of Indian TV serials. We have accepted ichhadhari naagins, women turning into fly, a couple marrying and divorcing at an alarming frequency and even people challenging the law of nature. But if there is one thing that we are still coming to terms with is the fact that people in TV serials commit murders and simply get away with it. Here are the characters of Hindi TV serial who faced no legal consequences for murder.
Any list of TV is incomplete without Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thhi. One of the most talked about plot of the serial was when Tulsi killed her own son Ansh Gujral for raping his wife Nandini. The episode is probably one of the most watched episode of Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thhi and visual of Tulsi shooting Ansh on a clip was almost everywhere at the time. However, even though Tulsi shoots and murders her son and is shown to get arrested, she is shown to be chilling in Haridwar after a small leap. Logic anyone?
Just like Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thhi, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has also become a never neding story of Ishita, Raman and their seriously dysfunctional family. In the serial it is time and again repeated that Ishita killed Adi and even Raman vows to destry Ishita for her sins. Surprisingly, even though everybody believes that Ishita has killed Adi, which she really hasn’t, nobody thinks of involving law in the matter and Ishita who is a murderer in their eyes have a miserable life but not behind the bars.
We tried not to keep a Sasural Simar Ka character on the list, but we just could not. So much before Simar killed a plethora of super natural characters and becomes a fly his sister Roli, although unintentionally, runs over a woman named Sunaina with her car. Guess the consequences she faces? No, it is not a trial or arrest for the hit and run case but instead Sunaina’s ghost comes to haunt her Sunaina’s husband kidnaps her. Yes, that really happened!
Another gem of the Hindi serial industry has been KumKum Bhagya which started off as a story close to that of Pride and Prejudice, but ended up becoming what all Hindi serials become after a point- a mind numbing hotch-potch of events with no logic whatsoever. So in one of the episodes Aaliya tries to kill Bulbul who is in hospital after an accident, because she is in love with her husband Purab. When Pragya reveals this truth to the family instead of calling the police in her they simply banish her from the house as a punishment. Ever heard of legal system people.
This was one serial that actually made a lot of sense but even there murder culprits face no charge whatsoever. In Maryada…Lekin Kab Tak Uttara is shown to be married to the monster of a man who not only beats her up but also forces her to sleep with other men for money. One day, unable to tolerate him anymore Uttara kills her husband and escapes to find shelter in Jakhar family. The story takes a whole new turn from here and nobody is concerned about Uttara who killed a man and walked away without even a mention of legal proceedings.
Talk about ridiculousness on TV and we are sure that the first name you will remember is that of Naagin. Mouni Roy’s serial defined lack of logic in a way nothing ever could., Shivanya, the icchadhari naagin, has killed a ton of people in this show but has never even gotten punished or even charged by the law. But then again I guess laws mostly apply to human and there is only so much police and law can do when ichhadhari naag, naagin, newlas and mor kill each other.
Diya Aur Baati Hum has changed its genre so many times that we are not even sure how to categorize this particular gem. In the serial, idealistic Bhabho kills her own son to protect Laalima from getting molested by him. While initially Sooraj is framed for the murder, soon the truth is revealed and Bhabho gets arrested. Just when you thought everthing was right, Sandhya Bindani arranges for Bhabho’s bail and she is released. Because suddenly murder has become a bailable offence in the country!
OK, we simply loved Jennifer Winget’s splendid performance as the psychotic Maya in this serial and to be honest it was different than most saas-bahu dramas. However, in the show Maya murders Vandana, Arjun’s mother by shutting her in the box-bed and upon knowing her deed guess what Arjun does? No he does not call the cops and get Maya arrested as anyone would have but instead vows to kill Maya himself. Ever heard of a thing called law, my boy?
One of TV’s scariest vamp, Ramola Sikand of Kahin Kissi Roz should be credited for making long bindis mandatory for vamps in the serials. In the show, she portrayed as a cunning and merciless women who would go to any lengths for money and power. In her quests she murders quite few people and is surprisingly never found out. Even when her misdeeds are discovered, instead of throwing her into the jail people plot revenge against her.
This was another vamp who got away with murder like a pro. In Ek Hasina Thhi Sakshi Goenka shoots her best friend Raima for sleeping with her husband which lands Raima into coma. She then goes ahead and shoots Dr. Thakur for his involvement in his son’s paralysis. But even after knowing about the crazy shooting spree of hers , her enemy Durga, does not call the cops on her but instead tries to create rift in the family. We can’t even…!
