7 Unnecessary Sequels Bollywood Is Making Which No One Asked For
Updated : March 01, 2019 01:03 PM ISTIn Bollywood, the formula is pretty simple, if a film does well, the producers see a cash cow in front of them and try to milk it to the fullest. Every year we see that the slate is full of sequels, prequels and spin-offs in Hollywood and Bollywood is doing the same. A number of films which didn't have much on the story side but grossed big numbers at the box-office got a sequel, some of which also performed exceptionally.
But the reviews even that time were quite unpleasant stating that there was no need for a sequel but hardly any sane opinion is taken seriously by the makers in Bollywood. In coming years, we are going to see a number of sequels of films, some of which we may have enjoyed in the first place but the sequels made us wish that no further films should be made. Here are 7 unnecessary sequels Bollywood is making which no one asked for:
Housefull 4: The commercial success of last 3 films is the only reason they are making a 4th but the overwhelmingly negative reviews for the first 3 installments should have been taken as a signal by the makers to not make any more Housefulls.
Dabangg 3: While the first part was an enjoyable ride, the sequel was plain bad. There's just no point extending the story based on wafer-thin plots, the audiences deserve much more, but then, its a Salman Khan film.
Rowdy Rathore 2: While the first part was a commercial success, the critics weren't too kind to the film as it was severely regressive.
Yamla Pagla Deewana 3: The first part was alright but the second one failed miserably. That should have been enough of a signal to the 3 Deols not to make the 3rd film.
Student of the Year 2: The first one was terrible and god knows what we can expect from a fairytale land school of Karan Johar's imagination.
Kick 2: The first one was blasted by the critics but its massive commercial success may have acted as an excuse to go for a 2nd film but no, the audiences suffered enough during the first time.
Ek Villain 2: Now that his career is not going to well, Sidharth Malhotra is teaming up again with Ek Villain director Mohit Suri for the sequel but no, the first one was enough for us.
