Akshay, Ajay, Kangana, Rajkummar And Others Are Working With These 10 Debutant Directors

Debutant director Aditya Dhar has created history by being the only one to score a double century with his very first release [Uri - The Surgical Strike]. Kangana Ranaut may not have debuted as a sole director yet but she has shared credits with Krish for her debut effort Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi. Meanwhile, Shelly Chopra Dhar has very recently started her Bollywood filmmaking career with Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.

However, there are more debuts awaited as superstars like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn are working with several newcomer directors and so are many tars too are experimenting with fresh talent in months to come. Let's take a look.

Luka Chuppi - Laxman Utekar

Promo of Kartik Aryan and Kriti Sanon's Luka Chuppi has released and has already made a delightful impact. The film marks the debut of acclaimed cinematographer Laxman Utekar who is making his Bollywood debut with this Dinesh Vijan production. He has earlier dabbled with filmmaking with Marathi releases Lalbaugchi Rani and Tapaal.

Mental Hai Kya - Prakash Kovelamudi

One just hopes that there are no issues related to credits that crop up as so far things seem peaceful for Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer Mental Hai Kya. Filmmaker Prakash Kovelamudi is at the helm of affairs who has to his credit Telugu release Anaganaga O Dheerudu. This one is expected to be a truly different romcom in the offering.

De De Pyaar De - Akiv Ali

Akiv Ali has edited all Luv Ranjan films so far, right from Pyaar Ka Punchnama to Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. Other than this he has close to 30 other films to his credit as an editor. Now for Luv Ranjan, he is debuting as a director with De De Pyaar De which stars superstar Ajay Devgn along with Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh. This one is meant to be a new age romcom musical affair.

Jabariya Jodi - Prashant Singh

After being an assistant with Aanand L. Rai on Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Prashant Singh is now making his debut as a director with Jabariya Jodi. The film sees Sidharth Malhotra get into an earthy avtar with Parineeti Chopra joining him. A fun musical affair that boasts of a very interesting subject of forced jodis, Jabariya Jodi should be entertaining.

Kabir Singh - Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Last year when Sandeep Reddy Vanga made his directorial debut with Telugu flick Arjun Reddy, it turned out to be an instant sensation. Hence, when the film's Hindi version was being put together with Shahid Kapoor as Kabir Singh, it was but natural to have Sandeep make his debut in Bollywood as well. If he manages to capture the same emotions, he has a winner in hand.

Rocketery - Madhavan

When Rocketry - The Nambi Effect was announced as a film that would be made in multiple languages, Madhavan and Ananth Mahadevan were said to be the co-directors. However now it would be just Madhavan calling the shots and with this he would making his debut as a director with the film. Given the rise in films with strong patriotic flavor, this is truly interesting.

Mission Mangal - Jagan Shakti

A long standing assistant with director R. Balki on films like Cheeni Kum, Paa, English Vinglish, Shamitabh and PadMan, Jagan Shakti would now be making his debut as a director with his production Mission Mangal. He is not new to working with Akshay Kumar as he has been an assistant director on Holiday as well. The filmmaker has already completed the shoot.

Made In India - Mikhil Musale

Producer Dinesh Vijan has been giving an opportunity to quite a few young filmmakers and with Made In India he is bringing director Mikhil Musale to Bollywood. He has made a Gujarati film Wrong Side Raju a few years back and now he is getting into a light hearted zone with Made In India that stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead along with Mouni Roy.

Good News - Raj Mehta

Karan Johar is known for backing talent year after year and deserving filmmakers do end up getting a platform at Dharma Productions. As for Akshay Kumar, he has worked with a record count of debutants and Raj Mehta, an assistant on Kapoor & Sons and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, debuts this time. Om Raut, the maker of Marathi film Lokmanya - Ek Yugpurush, is getting his big platform to excel with Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan's Tanaji - The Unsung Warrior. The film narrates an epic historic tale and is a mega budget big screen extravaganza in the offering. Interestingly, he has also been an executive producer on films as distinct as Haunted - 3D and City of Gold.
