5 Bollywood Films That Ended On A Cliffhanger But Never Got A Sequel!

Bollywood has fallen absolutely in love with the concept of sequels. As soon as a movie is declared hit by the audiences, no sooner do the makers line up a sequel for it, which in many cases is not even required. But then there are some Bollywood films that ended abruptly and drove us crazy, making us curious about what happens next. This is what Jagga Jasoos did recently, where we were freshly acquainted with the main villain of the film, played by Nawazuddin Sidiqui and the film ended. But the sadder part this that films like these that are noting getting a sequel.

Ra.One – Shah Rukh Khan’s endeavor at making a superhero film failed to impress and even when we were expecting a sequel, it never happened. After the climax when Ra.One dies, and later we see Prateek trying to bring him back to life and succeeds. The film ends when we see Ra.One again and it heightens our hopes at a sequel. But after the film became a flop, a sequel never happened.

Chandni Chowk To China – Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone’s mega flop narrated a story which was said to be associated closely associated with Akshay’s real life journey but the action drama wasn’t liked by anyone. Unlike other films, this one shows Akshay’s character to have gotten a new mission in Africa and it also announces a sequel ‘Chandini Chowk To Africa’ but it never happened after the miserable response that it got.

Phir Hera Pheri – The climax of the film takes place in a circus where in between all the confusion the film ends on a cliffhanger when we were absolutely not ready. We see Shyam and Baburao trying to call Raju just when he is about to dispose the guns and his phone rings. There after we left the theatres with so many questions on our mind about what happens next, but Hera Pheri 3 which was on the cards, seems absolutely jinxed and has not happened even after 11 years!

Special 26 – The film that was inspired by a true story ended on a cliffhanger where we see Wasim Khan being informed about the whereabouts of the fake CBI agents he was looking for and we see the film ending there. We never found out what happens next or if anything happens at all! With this question in mind we hoped that the film would get a sequel which it never did!

Jagga Jasoos – The visual treat that was produced by Ranbir Kapoor was an adventure film targeted especially at children. The film was broken in segments where we see various adventures of Jagga as he tries to reunite with his father. The film ends with him and his father reuniting but being suddenly kidnapped again. While it was clear by the ending that the makers wanted to produce a sequel, director Anurag Basu declared the since the film did not receive the desired response there will be no sequel!
