Bollywood Report Card 2017: Films Based On Real Life Events

Every year, we have a number of films that are dedicated to people who existed in real or events that changed the course of the history of the nation. While films based on real-life events or people are getting popular, with more than a dozen biographies gearing up for release in the coming year, 2017 saw rather fewer releases about real people. There are about 6 films in total that were based on people who really existed or on true events. Check out the list of all the films of 2017 that are based on real-life events:

1. The Ghazi Attack

The film was based on a secret mission that was carried out by India during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. It explores how the Indian Navy had carried out a secret mission to finish the PNS Ghazi. After PNS Ghazi sank, Pakistan declared that it was destroyed by its own underwater mine but also started bombing Indian airfields and began the 1971 war.

2. Poorna: Courage Has No Limits

Poorna was based on the extraordinary journey of Poorna Jagannathan, who was the youngest Indian to have climbed Mt. Everest. She scaled the heights at the age of 13. What is more amazing is the fact that she comes from a rural area of Telangana, which is a flat land!

3. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

The film was inspired by the life of Priyanka Bharti, a 19-year-old who had left her in-laws' house because it had no toilet in the house.  and returned only once a toilet was built!

4. Simran 

The Hansal Mehta and Kangana Ranaut film was loosely based on the life of NRI Sandeep Kaur, who had been accused of four bank robberies.

5. Daddy

Arjun Rampal's Daddy was based on the life of the gangster turned politician Arun Gawli. It traced how Arun became Daddy for Bombay and why he became a hero for many!

6. Haseena Parkar

We could see Sharaddha Kapoor in an entirely different role, all thanks to Haseena Parkar. She played the role of the Dawood Ibrahim's sister, who became 'Appa' after her husband died and brother fled the country.

7. Indu Sarkar

The film has stirred so much controversy after the trailer released is based on true events! The film is set on the backdrop of the emergency!
