Karan Johar Has The Guts To Make Fun Of Himself And That's A Really Cool Thing

He is counted amongst the top directors working in the industry and all of his directorial ventures have been commercially successful. He is also successfully running Dharma Productions, the company that his father started.
He is known for his larger than life films which invite both positive and negative criticisms. He is amongst the most active celebs on social media and is followed by the cameras everywhere. Be it at the parties, premiers or meetings, Karan Johar is photographed everywhere and seems omnipresent at the leading events taking place in Mumbai. The working dad is a proud father to twins Roohi and Yash and is one of the few Bollywood celebs who always speak their mind.
He never shies from calling a spade a spade and has spoken on various issues which have often landed him in trouble. Though unfazed by all of them, he continues to do his job and entertains & inspire people. Another thing which makes him really cool is that he is probably the only Bollywood celeb who can take a joke on himself like a boss and it takes guts to make fun of yourself. Here are a few instances when it happened:
The AIB roast: Karan's sexuality has often been questioned and he declared in his autobiography that he won't reveal his sexual orientation but he is happy with who he is. Still, a number of times he is trolled on social media with homosexual references. It was a surprise when Karan himself joked about his sexuality during the (in)famous AIB roast.
Making fun of his own films: While Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were huge blockbusters and are still considered as his greatest films, with time, a number of people are calling those films severely regressive, anti-feminist, and patriarchal. Even Karan laughs at the silliness of these 2 films and during a film festival, he blasted his 2 biggest hits!
Nepotism: While he often goes overboard on the Nepotism topic (during IIFA 2017), during Ittefaq's press conference, he laughed off at Nepotism remarks and said that he is the brand ambassador of Nepotism and the word continues to haunt him.
Making fun of the director Karan: If you have seen Imran Khan's I Hate Luv Storys which was produced by Karan Johar, Sameer Soni's forever romantic director is based on Karan. All the digs that you can think of on Karan's films and his directorial style are perfectly embodied by Sameer Soni.
Fitness Issues: He often had troubles with fitness like all of us do and after a strict diet plan and going to the gym, he has shed 17 Kgs and is much fitter and healthier. Though, he shared throwback pic with SRK where we can easily see Karan struggling in the gym.

Papparazzi's favourite: Being a celebrity, you are used to cameras following you and Karan joked on his celebrity persona when he landed in Mumbai but found no paparazzi there to click him. He was all dressed up for the occasion!
