Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan: The couple almost starred together in Bluffmaster and Dostana but eventually didn't. Aishwarya later revealed in an interview that due to time constraints, she couldn't do Bluffmaster and for Dostana, Saif Ali Khan, who was scheduled to appear with Abhishek and herself, opted out.

Sidharth Malhotra-Alia Bhatt: The news came last year that the couple would be starring in Mohit Suri's Aashiqui 3 and discussions were going on that the film would release soon. But, the makers have decided to put the film on hold for now and it's unclear whether Alia will be seen in the film. 

Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor: The couple was the talk of the town when they were together and starred together in films like 36 China Town, Fida and Jab We Met. They were supposed to star in a film directed by Sunil Darshan but the film got shelved due to reasons unknown. 

Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to make Bbajirao Mastani and later Padmavati with the couple who later parted ways. he waited for them to reconcile before finally doing the films with Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone.

Shahid Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra: The actors were dating for some time and they starred in Teri Meri Kahaani together in 2012 and Tigmanshu Dhulia wanted to sign them for his film MilanTalkies but the things didn't work out. 

Shraddha Kapoor-Aditya Roy Kapoor: The couple were eyed by Tigmanshu Dhulia for Milan Talkies once Shahid-Priyanka refused to star in the film but both actors got busy with other projects and the film never materialized. 

Ranveer Singh-Anushka Sharma: Once couple Ranveer & Anushka were eyed initially for his magnum opus Bombay Velvet but after their break-up, Anurag dropped the idea and later went with Ranbir-Anushka for his film.
