Twitter Reacts to the Censor Board Censoring 'Bombay'
Updated : April 06, 2016 10:58 AM ISTSo this happened:
Censor Board under Leela Samson directed singer to remove "Bombay" from song. Not done by new censor chief. #Bombay pic.twitter.com/RHlQHUpksd

Mihir Joshi sang a song with the word 'Bombay' in it and for very trivial reasons (being that Bombay is now referred to as Mumbai), the Censor Board directed the singer to remove the word Bombay from his song.
Here's what Mihir has to say about the incident!
In a song that talks about rapes and other terrible things done to women, how is the word BOMBAY the most offensive thing? #MumbaiBlues
— Mihir Joshi (@mihirjoshimusic) February 1, 2015
Twitter exploded with retorts, in support of the singer!
I once went drinking with the Censor Board. Don't remember what happened... It's all a blur.

A few jokes about BOMBAY velvet were expected! Even by Anurag Kashyap!
Waiting eagerly for the movie Bombay Velvet, or as the Censor Board calls it ████ Velvet.
— r/tsh (@floydimus) February 2, 2015
Now Anurag Kashyap has to change name of #BombayVelvet to #KashyapVelvet as censor is in no mood to accept #BOMBAY word in the films/songs.

Bombay Bombay Bombay
— Anurag Kashyap (@anuragkashyap72) February 1, 2015
The jokes didn't stop! #Bombay was trending on Twitter the whole day!
Does the censor Board think that if @mihirjoshimusic uses 'Bombay' in his songs then that will disturb public order? #Bombay

I was born in #Bombay. It says #Bombay on my Birth Certificate. I'm worried. Do I have to be born again or do I get a new birth certificate?

At the rate at which we are beeping words in songs, soon the songs will start sound like "Beep Beep Beep, Beeep, Beeeeep, Beep Beep” #Bombay
