OMG! This Talented Actor Will Play Deepika Padukone's Husband in Padmavati

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has chosen Fawad Khan to be Deepika Padukone's king.

After much debate about who will play Rawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, the ace director has finally given the role to Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

Padmavati, which will be based on the life of the Rani of Chittor in Rajasthan, is largely about the queen (Deepika Padukone) and Sultan Alauddin Khilji’s (Ranveer Singh) obsession with her. While these two roles have been confirmed, there has been struggle to find the actor for character of Padmavati’s husband Rawal Ratan Singh. The character is supposedly a weak one, who always gets outsmarted by the Sultan.

Due to this, there has been reports that Shahid Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan have passed on the role.

Also, some reports have also said that Deepika Padukone wanted a big name to play the character of her husband, with some reports suggesting that she rejected the TV actors chosen by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

According to a source, "Initially, a TV actor was to be signed, but Deepika put her foot down. A random actor from television won’t do for her. While she has no scenes with Ranveer, she shares some intense romantic and lovemaking scenes with her husband, so she wants a big star as her hero.”

But now it seems like everybody is happy as Fawad Khan will the play the role, after he was in Mumbai for the past couple of weeks meeting with Bhansali.

According to reports, “Bhansali wants 200 days from all his lead actors, including Ranveer Singh (plays Alauddin Khilji) and Deepika (Padmavati). Fawad has those days to spare. In between, he has Karan Johar’s production, but it should not be a problem as KJo and Bhansali share a good equation. So they will work it out. It’s too big an offer for Fawad to pass up.
