4 Reasons Why Rustom Is One of The Most Important Movies of The Year

Akshay Kumar, who has already delivered two superhits in the form of Airlift and Housefull 3, this year is poised to deliver his third blockbuster. Rustom, which will clash with Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro, reunites the A-lister with fillmaker Neeraj Pandey. Pandey, who has directed actor's Baby and Special 26, is a producer this time, but that doesn't mean the project is a middling one.
Inspired by a true tale of a naval officer, Rustom is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and here's why this Friday the film should be on your to-do list:
#1 A defining chapter in India's history
The case on which the movie is based on changed our judiciary system. The courts at the time still followed the Jury system which meant there used to be a panel of selected members acting as a jury which gave out verdicts for cases. It is still followed in countries like the United States. However, in this case, due to the verdict the Jury gave, this particular system was abolished.
#2 A period film treated right
Though the film doesn't go back in time as much as Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro does, there seems to be a certain authenticity in the way the film has been handled. From the vinatage cars to the timely clothes to the way newspapers looked at the time, the film seems to be given the proper treatment.
#3 Akshay Kumar's elevation as an actor
Akshay Kumar has already given a fine performance in Airlift and is now poised to give another one. The actor's dramatic turn is welcomed by us and he certainly looks like he is taking it up a notch.

For decades, Indian filmmakers have mistaken for underestimating their audience's potential, leading to several underwhelming films. That trend has been changing as of late and Rustom appears to be on the right side of that particular wave.
