Shivaay v/s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: Which Movie Won The Box Office Battle?

This Friday, after a lot of marketing and anticipation, Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashed against each other. And if there were any two movies releasing together, the word 'clash' is obviously symbolic, a kind of showman-like term to make the affair a bigger deal than it is. But that's not the case with these two movies.
These are two films which have two distinct fan bases, which are probably engaging in battles on social media as you read this. There is a definite and burning animosity between Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar, which led to the infamous KRK bribery scandal. Also, it is a clash of two different kinds of cinema: one an entertaining, loved up affair and other more serious and not very family-friendly action adventure.
And that has led to an increase in anticpation in both how the movies are and how they perform at the BO. While it is the Karan Johar movie that has been appreciated more by critics and Desimartini MJs, it remains to be seen which dominated commercially.
And as it turns out, while both movies did solid business this weekend, it is Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that has come out on top.
According to trade analyst, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil earned a respectable Rs.26 crore in its first two days.
Meawhile, Ajay Devgn's Shivaay crossed Rs. 20 crore but didn't match the Karan Johar movie.
On Diwali day (Sunday) too, the Karan Johar movie is touted for more success and will in all likelihood beat Shivaay at the box office. The movie is predicted to earn around 9 crore and while Shivaay would 6-7 crore. This will bring total of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay to around Rs. 35 and 27 crore respectively.
