Here's How SRK Not Being The 'King Khan' Anymore is Actually A Good Thing

Let's face it, SRK is not the dominant force in Bollywood he once was. In the past few years especially, he has not been able to retain his top-spot. In fact, he has slipped down the ladder.
When he is not beaten by incomprehensible box-office prowess of Salman Khan, he is left behind Aamir Khan's fantastic decision-making, And when the two Khans are not pummeling his chances of being the best again, his ambitions are thwarted by the heroics of Akshay Kumar.
It is only fair that the title of King Khan, amidst this, doesn't belong to him. In term of box-office numbers that title doesn't belong to him--and maybe never ever will.
But the point we are trying to make here is this: That's a good thing. In fact, it is one of the best things that could have happened to Shah Rukh Khan, who can now step away from the rat race and do what made him: Act.
And do you know what's even better? He is doing just that. Pay attention:
Fan is one of the biggest flops of the year, yes. But Shah Rukh Khan also gave one of the best performances of the year. Also, in terms of cinematic value, the film was heads and shoulders above his previous release Dilwale.
This year he stars in a movie with Alia Bhatt, but doesn't star opposite her. This is only right as the actor is some 30 years younger than him. But what's even better is that once upon the king of romance is starring in a movie without any overt romantic pairing. The Gauri Shinde (director of English Vinglish) film will have him play the role of a love guru.
SRK is one of the only top stars who has had an experience in playing the bad guy. This trend was obviously much more prevalent in the early days of his career when he did movies like Darr and riveted the audiences. But now, as he throws caution to the wind, he seems to embracing his dark side again. He will play the role based on a real life bootlegger and gangster in next year's Raees.
The quintessential romantic hero, SRK will don the role of a womaniser in The Ring. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the movie is currently being shot in Prague and will also star Anushka Sharma. The actor will reportedly play the role of a travel guide who is quite flirtatious.
And let's not forget, his upcoming collaboration with Aanand L. Rai, director of Raanjhana and Tanu Weds Manu.
