Deepika Padukone

The reigning queen of Bollywood made her debut with Om Shanti Om opposite none other than Shah Rukh Khan. The film was a Diwali release and went on to become a resounding success. The fact that Deepika is probably the most successful actress of Bollywood right now goes to prove that a Diwali debut was indeed lucky for her.

Ranbir Kapoor

The Kapoor scion made his debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali starrer Sawaariya. The film clashed with Om Shanti Om and was completely overshadowed by the Shah Rukh- Deepika starrer. Even though the film did less business at the box-office than what people would have envisioned for the starry debut film, nobody could stop Ranbir from becoming one of the biggest superstars of his generation.

Sonam Kapoor

Making her debut alongside Ranbir, was superstar Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor. The fate of Sawaariya at the box-office did not have any negative effect on Sonam’s Bollywood career. One of the most timeless divas of Bollywood also made her debuts on Diwali. She stepped into Bollywood with Baazigar which released on 12^th November 1993 on the occasion of Diwali. Baazigar went on to become a resounding success and Shilpa became one of the most popular actresses in the 90s. Shilpa is still one of the most popular celebrities around, especially given the fact that she has almost stopped featuring in films.
