Cannes 2019: Did Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Just Rehash Sonam Kapoor’s Cannes Look From 2016?

As much as we love Priyanka and Deepika for taking their fame international, the pioneer in this aspect will always be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The ex-miss world has always been as big a star internationally as she has been loved back home.

For more than a decade Aishwarya has been a constant at the Cannes Film Festival and has even served as the esteemed jury. But more than anything Cannes has been the site of Aishwarya’s style evolution. After a somewhat rocky start, Aish has managed to be serve some of the most epic and original red carpet looks on Cannes.

However, her latest look from Cannes looks like a total re-hash of a look that Sonam Kapoor sported at Cannes some three years back. Sonam created quite ripple among the fashion pundits when she wore this structured saree by Rimzim Dadu.

Aishwarya recently posted a picture where she can be seen wearing something very similar. In fact, the peacock-blue creation that she is wearing is by the same designer, Rimzim Dadu.

Things are also especially noteworthy because of the actresses’ famous spat that occurred when Sonam was chosen to represent Loreal at Cannes, an honor previously exclusive to Aishwarya. Things got even worse when Sonam called Aishwarya ‘aunty’.

However, all of that is in the past now and the actresses have let bygones be bygones. Aishwarya was seen happily attending Sonam’s wedding as well.

While there is no harm in wearing the same designers, we are confused about why Aishwarya would chose a 3 year old style for one of the hottest fashion event in the world.
