Aarya Babbar To Star In Film Loosely Based On Sushant’s Life, Says, ‘You Can’t Run A Social Media Trial Against It’
Can't Run A Social Media Trial Against Shashank: Aarya
Updated : September 01, 2020 01:09 PM ISTSushant Singh Rajput passed more than two months ago and since then the social media has been in a tizzy. Netizens had constantly requested the authorities for a CBI probe into the matter because according to them Sushant could not have committed suicide and that he was killed.
Many started accusing filmmakers and other Bollywood biggies like Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Tiger Shroff so on and so forth and castigated them for harbouring nepotism in Bollywood. Amidst all this hullaballoo, the posters of an upcoming film-based on the life of the deceased actor was released recently. The film is titled Shashank and filmmakers Sanoj Mishra and Marut Singh are helming the project. The film will chronicle events that sound similar to Sushant’s journey. Earlier, Sushant Singh Rajput’s look alike Sachin Tiwari was approached to play the role and now the role is being played by Aarya Babbar.
In an interview to Bombay Times, Aarya opened up about the film, “After sitting at home all through the lockdown, I feel blessed to get an offer. Also, I found the script interesting and intriguing. I can’t divulge much, but the story is about a small-town guy who comes to Bollywood, breaks through it and becomes a big star. Later, he is boycotted, which pushes him into depression. Shashank is about the soul of every small-town girl and boy, who wants to make it big in the industry, but is sadly pushed around. As someone associated with theatre, I have seen small-town people coming to the city wanting to make it big. People are assuming that the film is about just one person,” he told the portal.
Earlier, when the poster of the film released, there were many who raised dissentient voices against the film. Sushant’s social media savvy sister Shweta Singh Kirti raised objections and called for a boycott of the film. However Aarya says, the name of the film is Shashank and not Sushant, and that if one wants to take legal action, one is free to do it however, ‘you can’t run a social media trial,’ he said.
