After Kangana Ranaut Talks Of Bollywood 'Drug Parties', Hansal Mehta Says ‘It Is Most Unfair Generalisation’ About The Industry
Hansal Defends Bollywood On Kangana's Drug Claims
Updated : September 01, 2020 10:38 AM ISTActress Kangana Ranaut in a series of explosive tweets spoke the rampant drug culture in Bollywood just a few days ago. The actress had also alleged that once she became successful, she started getting invited to these parties and there she witnessed the sinister world of ‘drugs, debauchery and mafia’.
Kangana had also mentioned how cocaine and MDMA crystals are widely consumed in film and house parties and now Hansal Mehta who directed Kangana Ranaut fronted Simran, in a series of tweets refuted claims of the industry being full of debauches and stated, it is unfair to see Bollywood in that light, without mentioning anyone.
Talking about the parties he's attended in his 23 years in the industry, Hansal summed them up as, 'usually fun, full of camaraderie, bonding with colleagues and mostly great conversations over booze, cigarettes and some great, great food.'

Not every party has been scintillating but some I've attended have been usually fun, full of camaraderie, bonding with colleagues and mostly great conversations over booze, cigarettes and some great, great food.

He added that just like calling the Hindi film industry Bollywood was unfair likewise the generalisation that it is all 'about drugs, sex and scandals' is unfair. He said that the industry is about artists and calling it unfair is just another generalisation.
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >Just like Bollywood is a generic term that I disown I think any generalisation about the film industry being mostly about drugs, sex and scandals is unfair. Also the industry being unfair and mean is also a most unfair generalisation. This is an industry of artists not debauches.

The filmmaker mentioned that he was an outsider in Bollywood but he never himself feel like one and that bad experiences can be related to any industry. He also added that bad is nothing in comparison to the friends he made in the film industry.
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >Like any industry there are rotten apples, there are mean people, there are bad experiences. But these pale in comparison to the kind of friendships, acceptance and love I have found through all these years. I'm an outsider but I've never let myself feel left out.

He says ultimately it is about the individual and his perspective of life, and it's a choice.
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >I think ultimately it's about you - do you choose positivity over negativity? Do you choose satisfaction over success? Do you choose optimism over pessimism? Do you choose love over bitterness? Do you choose joy over bitterness?

Hansal continued talking about how toxicity can consume all aspects of life and it cannot be just limited to the industry. IT is important he says to let go of the past.
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >Toxicity often engulfs your life through experiences, relationships, failure but it's how you move on that counts most. How well you cope with the present is most important as is how well you let go of a bitter past. This is true for life. Not just one industry or its people.

Finally, he was specific in mentioned that his ramble is 'untargeted'.
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >Stop targeting one industry just because they make a livelihood from engaging with you by creating stories for your entertainment. Don't make these storytellers the story. Treat them the way you would any normal human being. Ok bye. Lengthy, untargetted ramble over.

Kangana stated that she was ready to help the Narcotics department and that in doing so, she would just jeopardise her career and there is also a threat to her life. She said she was in need of police protection. She had also reviewed how a top most actor who she was in a relationship with was hospitalised after being overdosed on drugs.
