Amar And Ekta To Reunite After 15 years
Updated : October 05, 2020 04:19 PM ISTEkta Kapoor and Amar Upadhyay teamed up for the first time in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The show was a huge success and had given the duo an acknowledgement in the industry. Amar played Mihir Virani and the character was so popular that the audiences literally went into a frenzy after Mihir was killed in the show. Ekta had to bring him back from the dead because of popular demand.
Amar had stayed long enough in the show and had gradually moved on towards films. However, his career in films was an unsuccessful one as all the films he was part of were box-office duds.
Now, after 15 years Ekta Kapoor and Amar Upadhyay are again coming together for a TV show that is based on 'Molkki' brides. The show will be telecast on Colors. It is about an 18-year-old widow who will be forced to get married to a man double her age. Priyal Mahajan will be playing the character of the girl in the show.
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror Amar said, "It is based on a real-life practice that still exists in northern states like Haryana. When I was approached for the show, I didn’t know much about it, so I went online and most of the stories had a tragic end. I was deeply moved. Our show sends out the right message, telling people that even while following this age-old practice, you can treat women well."
He also revealed that he made sure he considered this show even when he was flooded with other offers during the lockdown, "We are friends and in 2015-’16, she had offered me a show, but at that time I was already committed to another. During the lockdown, I got a lot of offers, but this was the one I felt I should be associated with,” he told the paper.
