Mr Bachchan Sent Migrant Workers To UP In 10 Buses
Updated : May 29, 2020 06:59 PM ISTSonu Sood has been in the news for quite some time because of his efforts to reach the migrant workers to their respective hometowns, now megastar Amitabh Bachchan also has come to the fore to help the migrant workers arrange for buses to reach them to their hometowns. The actor organised 10 buses for Uttar Pradesh.
The buses started their journey from Mahim Dargah and Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai. Amitabh Bachchan was not there to flag off the busses but his representative Rajesh Yadav, managing director AB Corporation Ltd was present. Along with him, Suhail Khandwani Managing Trustee, Mahim Dargah, and Trustee, Haji Ali dargah too were there to give the buses a go-ahead of sorts.
Around 300 migrants were sent to different locations in Uttar Pradesh which included places like Lucknow, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, and Bhadoi.
In order to maintain the social distancing norms, the 52-seater buses were only filled half their capacity and just 25 migrant labourers were put in each bus. The buses have also been equipped with food and snacks along with water, juices and medical kits too. Hand sanitizers and masks too were provided to the labourers.
The organisers of the buses have been quoted as saying, “It was the brainchild of Bachchan-Sahab who has been deeply concerned by the sufferings of the migrants since the lockdown. He made a proposal and the Haji Ali Dargah and Mahim Dargah responded by offering to make all the arrangements.”
