Are Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt The Next Hit Jodi After SRK-Kajol? This Is What Varun Thinks
Updated : April 09, 2019 04:11 PM ISTVarun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's on-screen chemistry sets the screens on fire and how! So much so, that people don’t think twice before comparing them with the stellar jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. A logical reason behind this might also be that the two of them have done quite a few films together and all of them have been raging hits and the audiences love to see the two of them together. SRK and Kajol as a jodi were much loved in the 90s and Varun and Alia are the current favourite.
Recently, during a media interaction, Varun revealed that this very comparison is too big for him to handle. Quipped he, "It's a huge comparison. They (Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol) have done seven incredible films together. Their jodi is iconic. I would not consider this comparison as I have also grown up watching them together."
The Judwaa 2 actor further elaborated that Alia and he were “one of the most successful pairs of Bollywood”, but at the same time he was quite convinced that he could in no way replace Kajol and Shah Rukh. He asserted, "No, it won't happen ever. That pair is so special that we are still talking about it today. You need to work very hard to reach that level."

Varun even said that it is very easy to draw comparisons and that it has almost become a norm to do it and it is a very external facet, "We easily draw comparisons nowadays. We compare Virat Kohli with Sachin Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar with Sunil Gavaskar, this comparison between the elder and younger brother will always go on. Therefore, I take all these comparisons superficially and always work hard, so that one-day the audience will say that the pair of Varun and Alia entertained us the most."
That was surely a very dignified answer by Varun. For the uninitiated, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Ajay Devgn and Rani Mukerji were initially a part of Kalank. But after Yash Johar's demise, the film was put on hold.
After a long time, Karan Johar is now bringing Kalank which features Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Directed by Abhishek Varman, the film is slated to release on April 17.
