Dada Saheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards: Akshay Kumar Wins Best Actor

Dada Saheb Phalke Awards are handed out each year to the artists who have made a significant contribution to the field of cinema. The Government of India has recognized numerous legends from different film industries that exist in India. A Dadasaheb Phalke win is the highest honor in India in the field of Cinema. They are named after Dadasaheb Phalke who is also known as the Father of Indian Cinema.

The legendary filmmaker was born on 30th April 1870. He made India's first film Raja Harishchandra in the year 1913. After the Government of India announced the Awards in his name, over the years, a number of Awards with his name have also cropped up. The real Dada Saheb Phalke Awards are the ones handed out by the President of India. Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Awards happened a couple of weeks back and yesterday, the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards also announced its winners. 

If one carefully sees the list of the winners, they will notice that these Awards have been handed out to even those whose performance or the film sometimes won't even guarantee a nomination. The Awards functions in India according to many industry insiders and prominent personalities are just an excuse to satisfy the sponsors and honoring the corporate deals. Saif Ali Khan even referred to the Awards as a big joke while Aamir Khan never attends such ceremonies.
