Deepika Padukone To Finally Star Opposite Salman Khan In Kick 2?

Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan might finally be coming together on-screen after years of speculation and anticipation by fans. Deepika was the first choice for Salman Khan’s Kick which released in 2014 but the role ultimately went to Jacqueline Fernandez after the Om Shanti Om actress turned it down. DP, however, is once again in the running to star opposite Salman in Kick 2 replacing Jacqueline in the film.

If Sajid Nadiadwala is able to pull this off, it will be a casting coup of sorts as Deepika has already turned down Barjrangi Bhaijaan, Jai Ho, Sultan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo opposite Salman. Making this happen with Kick 2 isn’t going to be as easy for the director as well. Deepika is known to sign on for films where she actually has a substantial role which sadly can’t be said for any of Salman’s movies. A source close to the director disclosed to Bollywood Hungama, “Deepika can’t play just a typical Salman heroine. Her role has to be as powerful as Salman’s. Sajid is working on it, injecting heft into the female lead.”

The casting is however still not confirmed by the makers but if the Chhapaak actress is really doing this then it sure makes Kick 2 a very exciting project both for fans and Bollywood at large. Both the stars, however, are currently engaged with other projects with Salman Khan busy shooting Dabangg 3 and Deepika Padukone working on Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak.
