Did Shatrughan Sinha Take A Dig At Akshay Kumar For His Donation?

It was almost a month back that the PM had announced the PM-CARES fund to help those who have been rendered jobless and are vulnerable due to the lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic. Akshay Kumar was one of the first stars to have made a contribution and he donated a whopping Rs. 25 crores towards the issue. Many celebs and even the PM lauded him for his donation. But noow it seems like Shatrughan Sinha took a dig at the actor for the same.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, the actor and the politician said how showbiz industry has become show-off biz. He said, “It is downright offensive and demoralizing to hear someone has contributed Rs. 25 crores. Is this to say, you are going judge an individual’s volume of concern for the current crisis by the amount of money he gives away? In no part of the world do celebrities flaunt the amount they give for charity. Charitable causes are always a private affair. I fear showbiz is now in the danger of collapse, so now we have it being replaced by show-off biz. When I hear someone has given Rs. 25 crores I wonder if the amount I will give is of any use. Stop it! Everyone is doing their best. Don’t make this into a ‘mine-is-bigger-than-yours’ school-boys’ competition.”

He did not take Akshay’s name, but it is quite clear that the comment is directed at him! Akshay Kumar and many other celebs had earlier been questioned by fans for revealing their charity amount. Many others, like Rajkummar Rao, Alia Bhatt and Sara Ali Khan chose not to mmention how much they contributed to the fund. We wonder how Akshay Kuamr would react to it.
