Dilip Kumar funeral: Legendary actor draped in tricoloured flag according to state protocols, laid to rest at Juhu Qabrastan

Dilip Kumar’s last journey from his home Solitaire in Bandra Mumbai began close to 4 PM as fans, family, media and well wishers flocked the street outside his home to get one last glimpse of the supertsar who died on Wednesday morning at the age of98. The ‘tragedy king’ of Hindi cinema made his fans across the globe shed tears again, this time it was not for an onscreen act but in mourning as he was laid to rest at the Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai, draped in the tri-colored flag with full state honors.

While tributes for the actor poured in from all over the world, several of the actor’s admirers paid their last respects to the actor at his residence where his mortal remains were brought from the Hinduja Hospital. From politicians of the state including Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, Johnny Lever, Ranbir Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and several others dropped by and consoled Dilip Kumar’s wife and veteran actress Saira Banu.

The Mumbai police draped the actor in the tri-colored flag according to state protocols after which his funeral procession began. Saira Banu was seen following close behind along with other members of the family.
